On the quality of life of women with adenomyosis
This study evaluated quality of life in 127 women with adenomyosis, finding that combined oral contraceptives and hysterectomy yielded the greatest improvements, followed by the Mirena IUD.

This study evaluated quality of life in 127 women with confirmed adenomyosis using the Endometriosis Health Profile-5 questionnaire, administered at baseline, and again at 6 and 12 months after treatment. Participants were divided into four groups based on the method of treatment, and responses were used to compare differential effects across quality-of-life domains over time. Combined oral low-dose COCs (ethinyl estradiol plus chlormadinone) and hysterectomy showed the best overall improvements, while the levonorgestrel-releasing IUD “Mirena” was also effective but less so than the other two groups. The paper explicitly positions standardized quality-of-life questionnaires as an important tool for monitoring treatment effectiveness and notes that treatment selection depends on age, reproductive plans, and clinical symptoms, though the limitation is that the study does not provide details about how treatment assignment was controlled. This paper is centrally about adenomyosis — it focuses specifically on quality-of-life assessment in women with adenomyosis using the EHP-5 tool and compares treatment-related changes.
