Reproductive medicine is multidisciplinary. In this context, the importance of gynecological history, somatic factors, and the influence of coital frequency and timing are presented. Algorithms for calculating the probability of pregnancy are described. Hormones influencing follicular maturation are presented. Psychological factors are taken into account. Environmental influences and noxae are discussed. Follicle maturation is described in detail with possible impairing variables. Disorders of passage in the genital tract and their diagnosis are described. Endometriosis is discussed as a frequently unrecognized cause of infertility. Immunological factors with sperm antibodies in the female organism are discussed and possible therapies are presented. An overview of physiological changes during early pregnancy, implantation, and their disorders follows. Therapeutic measures in connection with idiopathic infertility form the conclusion.
