This paper reports a case of a 26-year-old woman with enteric endometriosis who presented with abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding, along with cecocolic intussusception and a cecal mass seen on barium enema. Laparotomy found cecocolic intussusception, ileocecal endometrial implants, and cecal mucosal ulceration thought to be due to ischemia from the intussuscepted bowel, with histopathology showing serosal/subserosal implants without mucosal invasion. The authors also review prior literature on endometrial bowel disease. This paper is centrally about endometriosis—specifically ileocecal/ileocecal region endometriosis presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding and intussusception.

Summary A 26-year-old woman with enteric endometriosis presenting with cecocolic intussusception, a cecal mass on barium enema, and gastrointestinal hemorrhage is described. Laparotomy revealed cecocolic intussusception, ileocecal endometrial implants, and cecal mucosal ulceration presumed secondary to ischemia of the intussuscepted bowel. Histopathology showed serosal and subserosal endometrial implants without mucosal invasion. A review of the literature of endometrial bowel disease is presented.
