Abstract

Dataset supporting the University of Southampton Doctoral Thesis "Endometriosis – It’s influence on obstetric and birth outcomes and the potential role of reactive oxygen species". The data includes total antioxidant capacity (TAC) assay results, Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) assay results and lumigen total reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay results. These assays were applied to samples of peritoneal fluid, urine and serum of women with and without endometriosis taken at surgery and serum and urine obtained at follow up as part of thesis "Endometriosis – It’s Influence on Obstetric and Birth Outcomes and the Potential Role of Reactive Oxygen Species" Results of intracellular redox status experiments. Microinjection of mouse oocytes with roGFP2 mRNA and measured fluorescence (mean integrated density of confocal images) of the oocytes at emission wavelength 530 nm following excitation at 405 nm and 488 nm wavelengths to measure the oxidation/reduction ratio of each oocyte when incubated in peritoneal fluid of women with and without endometriosis and control fluids. Results of experiments incubating mouse oocytes in peritoneal fluid (of women with and without endometriosis) and control fluids and performing immunofluorescence with Anti-8-OHG antibody. Mean fluorescence of anti-8-OHG was measured by integrated density in pixels. Data is available only 'on request' to bone fide researchers with ethical approval.
