Abstract

Two patients with highly malignant mixed mesodermal (müllerian) tumor of the ovary are presented. The tumor has the same histologic characteristics in the ovary as in its more common endometrial location, featuring a narrow range of epithelial derivatives and a variety of heterologous mesenchymal elements. The possible origin of these tumors from ovarian endometriosis is supported by the occurrence of endometriosis in the involved ovary in case 2.
