Effect of Genistein on Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) Expression and Vascular Density in The Peritoneum of Endometriosis Mice Model

This experimental study evaluated the effects of genistein at four doses (1.3, 1.95, 2.6, and 3.25 mg/day) on proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression and vascular density in mouse peritoneal tissue using immunohistochemical assessment and hematoxylin-eosin for vascularity, with ANOVA and Dunnett T3 used for analysis. In endometriosis mice, genistein produced significant changes in both PCNA expression and vascular densities (p=0.001, p<0.05), with PCNA increasing at doses of 1.3, 1.95, and 2.6 mg/day and showing an apparent reduction at 3.25 mg/day while vascular densities were significantly reduced in all treatment groups. A stated caveat is that the work used stored biological materials and details of lesion characterization beyond peritoneal tissue assessment are limited.
