Endometriosis y su relación en la salud física, emocional y calidad de vida de mujeres en edad reproductiva en América Latina: revisión de la evidencia científica, 2020–2025
A narrative review of 2020–2025 literature on endometriosis in Latin America links pain severity to reduced quality of life and emotional distress, noting that while interventions help, evidence remains geographically concentrated.

This narrative review analyzed scientific evidence published between 2020 and 2025 to assess the impact of endometriosis on the physical, emotional, and quality-of-life dimensions of reproductive-age women in Latin America. The authors screened 500 records and retained 23 reports, predominantly from Brazil, which demonstrated consistent associations between pain intensity and adverse outcomes such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, functional limitations, and sexual difficulties. While surgical, psychological, and electrotherapy interventions showed specific improvements, the paper notes that regional evidence remains geographically concentrated and insufficient for robust cross-country comparisons or accurate estimation of diagnostic delays. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically examining its multidimensional burden on health and well-being in Latin American populations.
