Assessment of Duration of Sliding Sign in Routine Pelvic Ultrasound Studies
This study found that incorporating the uterine sliding sign into routine pelvic ultrasound takes less than one minute and efficiently enhances deep endometriosis detection without being affected by sonographer experience.

This retrospective study assessed the feasibility and time burden of adding the uterine sliding sign to routine transvaginal pelvic ultrasound to improve diagnosis of deep endometriosis. It included 200 premenopausal and perimenopausal women at Mayo Clinic (Florida and Arizona) with chronic pelvic pain, infertility, or suspected endometriosis, with sonographers performing the sliding maneuver and recording acquisition times; sonographer experience and the maneuver duration were analyzed. The median time to acquire the sliding sign was 26 seconds, with no significant difference by experience, and the maneuver extended the overall ultrasound by less than 1 minute on average.
