The potential and prospects of the quantitative phase imaging (QPI) diagnostic technology in obstetrics and gynecology
Quantitative phase imaging identified differences in perforin-positive cytotoxic CD8+ lymphocytes between healthy women and those with endometriosis or uterine leiomyoma.

This study evaluated the diagnostic potential of quantitative phase imaging to assess cytotoxic immunity in female patients with external endometriosis, uterine leiomyoma, and healthy controls. Researchers analyzed peripheral blood lymphocytes from 22 women with endometrioid ovarian cysts, 20 with leiomyoma, and 20 healthy subjects using non-invasive phase interference microscopy. The findings indicated that patients with endometriosis had a significantly lower proportion of perforin-positive CD8+ lymphocytes compared to both the leiomyoma group and healthy controls. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically investigating immunological markers via quantitative phase imaging in patients with endometrioid ovarian cysts.
