The paper reports two cases of abdominal wall endometriosis presenting with preoperative diagnoses of recurrent incisional hernia and an inclusion cyst, studied using clinical evaluation, intraoperative findings, surgical excision/dermolipectomy (including complete scar resection), and histopathology. In both cases, intraoperatively the authors found blue, multilobulated masses involving the abdominal wall (rectus fascia/muscle region), and histology confirmed ectopic endometrial glands and stroma with associated inflammatory/desmoplastic reaction and hemorrhage, with no malignant changes. The main limitation is that the report is based on only two rare cases and relies on literature review for incidence estimates and diagnostic/treatment context. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically endometriosis of the abdominal wall scar with extension to muscle tissue.
