This retrospective cohort study analyzed medical records from 52 women with rectal endometriosis diagnosed by MRI with bowel preparation and treated with surgical resection at Instituto Femina (June 2018–August 2023), with follow-up through one year postoperatively. The women were mostly aged 33–42 years (mean 39.15), and 59.6% had associated comorbidities (predominantly gynecologic, including reported adenomyosis); common symptoms included dysmenorrhea (67.3%), dyspareunia (36.5%), and infertility (50%), while intestinal cramps were reported by 30.8%. Endometriosis involved more than one region in 80.8% of cases, with the rectum as the most affected site and the uterosacral ligament reported as the second most affected (61.5%), and the main surgical approach was segmental resection of the rectum. The study’s main limitation is that it is a retrospective chart review without an explicit control group, using data collected from a single center. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically rectal endometriosis with an epidemiological profile of associated symptoms, comorbidities, and lesion mapping.
