Abstract
Due to chronic recurrent course and early age of disease onset quality of life in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) may be reduced. Sexual function, fertility, contraception, reproduction and thus sexual health such as social engagement, sexual activity and intimacy in partnership may be impaired due to the disease itself and current medical and surgical procedures. Little is scientifically known about IBD in context to sexual medicine and whether health professionals talk about sexual health issues to their patients. The aim was to gain insights to sexual problems in IBD patients' treatment.
