Die kombinierte Endometriosetherapie–Langzeitergebnisse in Abhängigkeit vom Aktivitätszustand der Endometriose
This retrospective study evaluated the long-term effectiveness of a three-phase hormonal therapy involving six months of GnRH analog application for 105 patients with endometriosis. Researchers assessed the proliferative state of lesions via MIB-1 expression in biopsies and correlated these findings with recurrence rates of dysmenorrhea over an average follow-up period of 8.5 years. The results indicated that while good healing rates were achieved, symptom recurrence after one year depended significantly on pre-treatment proliferation status, with strongly decorated lesions showing lower recurrence rates than inactive ones. After five years, the cumulative recurrence rate reached 56%, leading to the conclusion that early diagnosis and treatment are crucial before lesions transition to a proliferatively inactive state. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically analyzing how the proliferative activity of lesions influences long-term outcomes following combined hormonal therapy.
