Abstract

Ovarian reserve is defined as the functional potential of the ovary, which is reflected by the number and quality of the follicles that have a good response to controlled ovulation stimulation by exogenous gonadotropin.Aim of study. To determine the antral follicles count (AFC) number using ultrasound diagnostic in patients with infertility and ovarian endometriosis.Materials and methods. Ultrasound diagnostics was carried out to determine the number of antral follicles in 100 patients with infertility and ovarian endometriosis and in 40 patients with infertility without ovarian endometriosis.Results. In women with infertility and ovarian endometriosis, antral follicles count (AFC) were significantly lower than in women with infertility without ovarian endometriosis.Conclusions. The AFC number in patients with infertility and ovarian endometriosis is significantly lower compared with patients with infertility without ovarian endometriosis. In other words, the presence of endometriotic lessions in the ovarian tissue has a negative effect on the ovarian reserve.
