Abstract

Objective: Description of four patients with endometrioma of the abdominal wall. Setting: Third level health care hospital. Description of cases: Four women, aged between 28 and 36 years, with endometrioma of the abdominal wall, with an average of 19 months each after cesarean section. Only one presented cyclic pain with menstruation. No diagnostic suspicion existed in any of the four patients. Treatment consisted in ample resection of the endometrioma after trans-operative histological diagnosis. All received pharmacological treatment. Conclusion: Endometrioma of the abdominal wall occurs generally after a gyneco-obstetric surgery, pain is not always cyclic, preoperative diagnosis is difficult to establish, and an ample surgical resection must always be performed to avoid recurrences.
