Abstract

A case of umbilical endometriosis is reported. A 38-years-old Japanese woman had been noticed a tumor in her navel, accompanied with tenderness. Nine months later, she visited us. At the time, a dark reddish small nodule sized 8×6mm were observed in the umbilical fossa. The nodule was smooth and free from undersurfase. The nodule was resected local anesthesia. The histological examination of the nodule showed glandular structures in the dermis, which resembled true endometrium tissue. The glands consisted of pillar cells that secreted. From the histological findings, we diagnosed this case as cutaneous endometriosis. No signs of recurrence have been detected 6 months after operation.
