Abstract
Polypoid endometriosis is a very rare form of endometriosis, mostly affecting perimenopausal women and causing different symptoms than the usual type. It forms polypoid masses that can be misdiagnosed as malignant tumors during patient management. Polypoid endometriosis arising from a cyst wall is even more rare. Here, we present a case of a 47-year-old perimenopausal patient with a large cystic tumor in the left adnexal region and an inhomogenous tissue in the uterine cavity. Hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy was performed. The histology showed a polypoid endometriosis growing in an endometriotic cyst and, simultaneously, a large endometrial polyp with similar structure in the uterine cavity. Our case is unique because of the extreme rarity of polypous endometriosis in an endometriotic cyst and its even more rare association with an intrauterine endometrial polyp.
