Routine hysterectomy for large asymptomatic uterine leiomyomata: a reappraisal.
This study found no increase in adverse outcomes or blood loss for hysterectomies performed on uteri larger than 12 weeks' size, suggesting routine prophylactic hysterectomy for large asymptomatic fibroids is unnecessary.
