This case report describes a 35-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes who presented with chronic umbilical discharge that did not respond to antibiotic therapy. Initial imaging studies, including ultrasound and MRI, failed to identify any obvious abnormalities in the affected area. The patient ultimately underwent surgical excision of the umbilicus, which allowed for histological confirmation of endometriosis as the underlying cause. This outcome highlights that surgical removal provides both definitive diagnosis and curative treatment for isolated cases of this condition. Relevance to endometriosis: Centrally about the condition — specifically describing an unusual presentation of umbilical endometriosis mimicking infection.
