Study on therapeutic mechanism of Neiyifang in treating endometriosis
Neiyifang improved endometriosis symptoms by altering plasma β-endorphin and prostaglandin levels in patients.

This paper evaluated the clinical effects of Neiyifang (NYF) in 104 patients with endometriosis across three menstrual cycles, measuring peripheral plasma β-endorphin (β-EP) in follicular, luteal, and menstrual stages and assaying multiple menstrual prostaglandins (PGF2α, PGE2, thromboxane B2, and 6-keto-PGF1α) by radioimmunoassay, compared with 15 healthy controls. Patients receiving NYF had an overall effective rate of 81.3% with significant improvement in symptoms and physical signs, and during the menstrual stage β-EP and the 6-keto-PGF1α/TXB2 ratio were increased while PGF2α and PGE2 were reduced (all reported P<0.05). The study also found that patients with endometriosis had lower β-EP and disturbed prostaglandin profiles versus controls, and that higher PGE2 levels were associated with more severe menalgia. The limitation explicitly noted is the small healthy-control comparison size and that the mechanistic work is based on plasma β-EP and prostaglandin levels rather than direct tissue or causal pathway confirmation. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it tests Neiyifang’s therapeutic effect and links changes in β-endorphin and prostaglandin regulation to menalgia in endometriosis.
