This retrospective descriptive study evaluated postoperative clinical outcomes after surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis (TIE) in a specialized, level III endometriosis center at the University Women’s Clinic Tübingen, analyzing 455 operated patients treated between 2005 and 2015. Postoperative course regarding pain symptoms, desire for children, and re-operations was assessed using a study questionnaire developed within the clinic and aligned to ENDOS quality assurance criteria; the key limitation explicitly acknowledged is that only 131 patients (28.8%) returned usable responses, which may restrict representativeness. Among those operated for pain, 87.0% reported postoperative improvement, and at the time of survey (09/2019) 44.6% were free of symptoms; in patients operated for infertility, the pregnancy/childbearing goal was fulfilled in 45.9%. Overall, 34.1% reported undergoing re-operation for endometriosis-type symptoms, with the first re-operation occurring on average after 3.0 years, mainly for recurrent pain. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically postoperative outcomes following surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis (TIE).
