In 56 hysterectomy patients, leukocyte migration inhibition varied with surgical radicality, with non-inhibition in those retaining ovaries attributed to estrogen production.

Abstract

The leukocyte migration inhibition test was performed on 56 patients hysterectomized on account of myoma. -- Despite low antigenicity of autologous myoma tissue significant differences in inhibitions of migration were observed depending on the extent of surgical radicality in the adnexal region. -- Non-inhibition of leukocyte migration in patients whose myomatous uterus alone was exstirpated is explained by the oestrogens produced in the remaining ovaries.
