This paper reports a rare case of umbilical endometriosis, describing its histology as endometrial stroma underlying the dermis. The authors state that the lesion was completely excised and that a satisfactory new umbilicus was formed using a local transposition flap. The main limitation is that it is a single case report, so no broader evidence about prevalence, mechanisms, or outcomes is provided. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically umbilical (cutaneous) endometriosis presenting at the umbilicus.
