Abstract

Laparoscopy has enabled the gynecologist to make the diagnosis of endometriosis with relative ease. In addition, laparoscopy has been acquiring increasing importance as a treatment modality. No longer is laparoscopy used only to treat minimal and mild disease, since advanced disease is being safely and effeetively treated endoscopically. The laparoscopic approach to surgical treatment of endometriosis has many advantages over laparotomy (see Chapter 1). The decrease in morbidity and cost has been well established. Additionally, laparoscopy may decrease the incidence of de novo adhesion formation when compared to laparotomy.1 Preview Unable to display preview. Download preview PDF.
