Este estudo revisa a literatura entre 2011 e 2021 para analisar e comparar a efetividade de contraceptivos hormonais combinados (CHC) versus progestágenos isolados (PR) no tratamento da endometriose, utilizando buscas nas bases MEDLINE/Pubmed, LILACS e SciELO com descritores relacionados a contracepção hormonal e progesterona. Foram incluídos 22 artigos: 9 focaram em PR, 4 em CHC, 3 avaliaram ambos (PR e CHC) e 6 abordaram mais de um tipo de terapia, com foco em controle de sintomas e qualidade de vida. Os autores relatam que PR e CHC apresentam eficácia no manejo dos sintomas e melhora da qualidade de vida em mulheres com endometriose, mas não identificam superioridade de uma estratégia sobre a outra.
