[Effect of intrauterine contraception on the ultrastructure of uterine mucosa].

The effects of the Lippes loop C on edometrial ultrastructure during periods of 3 days-5.5 months were studied in 15 women aged 29-44 years who underwent hysterectomy for myoma bilateral ovarian cysts uterine prolapse. Endometrial epithelium in close contact with the IUD as well as distant sections were examined. Cellular damage as well as damage to the nucleus or to cellular organelles was not observed. In the endometrial areas in direct contact with the IUD lightening of the hyaloplasma and low-grade submucous edema were seen. These findings are in accord with previously reported studies of endometrial IUD effects.
