Abstract
EnglishEndometriosis implants can affect almost any organ (being the most frequent the ovary), although they can also develop in more atypical locations such as fallopian tubes, cervix, vagina, peritoneum or cul-de-sac of Douglas. Approximately 6% of women with endometriosis have implants at the level of the fallopian tubes. Torsion of the fallopian tube is an extremely rare condition that occurs in 1 of every 1,500,000 women, associated with adhesions, congenital anomalies, hydrosalpinx, pelvic inflammatory disease, neoplasms, uterine or ovarian masses, etc... Physical examination, ultrasound imaging, the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen and surgery treatment, are the fundamental pillars for the management of this clinical entity. We present the case of a postmenopausal patient with bilateral endometriosis (fallopian tube and ovary), who presented a tubal torsion as casual discovery during laparoscopic surgery.
