The paper reports a case of sigmoid colon endometriosis in a 52-year-old woman, where chronic constipation and severe colicky abdominal pain associated with menstruation culminated in an incomplete bowel obstruction requiring surgery. It provides an overview of the frequency, localization, and clinical symptoms of intestinal endometriosis, along with differential diagnosis, pathologic anatomy, and histology, and discusses etiology and therapy. The main limitation is that the clinical report is a single case with the broader content presented as an overview rather than new comparative data. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — specifically bowel wall (darmwand) endometriosis of the sigmoid colon.
