Zykluskontrolle unter Einnahme von 30µg Ethinylestradiol und 2mg Dienogest im Langzyklus über ein Jahr
This study compared cycle control over one year in 1315 women using 30µg ethinylestradiol + 2mg dienogest in either 13 conventional or 4 extended cycles, measuring the primary outcome of intermenstrual bleeding days.

In a prospective, randomized, multicenter study, 1315 women aged 18–40 were assigned to receive 30 µg ethinylestradiol plus 2 mg dienogest either in 13 conventional cycles (21 tablets) or in 4 long cycles (84 tablets) over one year, while maintaining daily bleeding and pill intake records in a bleeding calendar. The primary endpoint was the relative number of days with breakthrough bleeding. Total bleeding days were lower with the long-cycle regimen (6.4 ± 6.1) versus conventional therapy (15.7 ± 5.5) due to fewer hormone-free intervals, but breakthrough bleeding days and relative breakthrough bleeding were higher with long cycling and the relative increase was not statistically significant. The paper reports that prior oral contraceptive use halved breakthrough bleeding rates in both groups and that withdrawal bleeding still occurred regularly during hormone-free intervals. This paper does not explicitly discuss endometriosis or adenomyosis; it was included in the corpus via a keyword match in the upstream search index.
