Vitamin D and endometriosis: Is there a correlation with disease severity?
This study investigated the correlation between vitamin D levels and endometriosis severity, concluding that further research is required to establish a definitive relationship.

This paper is a letter to the editor commenting on a previously published observational study that enrolled women with mild (n=9) and advanced endometriosis (n=7) and healthy controls (n=16) and measured serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D and vitamin D-binding protein across endometriosis severity. The letter notes that the prior study found no relationship between hormone levels and endometriosis severity, but highlights methodological concerns including whether participants had comparable endometriosis localizations and the limitations of using the ASRM stage classification for clinical severity. It also argues that merging ASRM stages 1–2 and 3–4 into two groups with small case numbers could bias interpretation and reduce comparability with other studies. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it critiques evidence on whether vitamin D correlates with endometriosis severity and discusses study design issues specific to endometriosis staging and localization.
