Determining Motor Failure Using Power Output and Wavelength
preprint

Abstract
Industrial motors are commonly used in significant industrial buildings. When a motor fails during operation, it could cause a big loss for companies. Different methods are being used to determine motor failure before it occurs. For example, companies use temperature stickers to read the motor's temperature, which would determine the end of motor’s life. A method that we will use to predict motor failure is using Frequency Wave to Predict Motor Failure. We employ approximately 400 motors with different Horsepower (2–5 HP). A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is used to control the speed of each motor in the facility. The main idea for this research is to predict motor failure before it occurs by using an oscilloscope to determine abnormal frequency waves. The wave tests conducted are Voltage Frequency Waves, Resistance Frequency Waves, and Current Frequency Waves. Although other factors could affect the data, multiple motors will be used, and the average will be taken for the final data results. Examples of factors that could affect the data are the drive pulleys, conveyor belts (type of belt), bearings, and the amount of load (packages) applied on the conveyor belts.
