Abstract

Endometriosis is an enigmatic, polyetiological disease that affects every 1 of 10 women and which causes up to 60% of complications, especially infertility. Endometriosis is a common disease found in 5-10% of cases general populations women, and 10-15% of all women of reproductive age. Endometriosis in women undergoing surgery for infertility or pelvic pain found in 20-50% cases. In Europe, the disease affects about 16 million people. In Lithuania, about 8,000 cases of endometriosis in women are diagnosed per year. The diagnosis of endometriosis is difficult and specific, and is based on the golden standard- laparoscopy. Treatment is complex surgical and pharmacological.
