Abstract

It is a great honor for me to inform all our readers that the current issue of the Journal of \nEndometriosis contains the guidelines of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada \n(SOGC) on “Endometriosis: Diagnosis and management.” \nThese Clinical Practice Guidelines were reviewed by the Clinical Practice Gynaecologists \nCommittee and reviewed and approved by the Executive and Council of the SOGC. They were published \nin July 2010 by the Journal of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Canada (JOGC). A warm thank you goes \nto the SOGC, and especially to Dr. Vyta Senikas (Associate Executive Vice-President of the SOGC, Editor \nof the JOGC, CPL section). \nThis is a wonderful opportunity for the Journal of Endometriosis to serve as a bearer of new \ninformation on endometriosis, coming from one of the major national societies in the world. The authors \nhave reviewed the entire topic, setting it out in 8 chapters, and provided a summary of the latest evidence \nregarding diagnosis and surgical/medical management of endometriosis. Recommendations for practice \nare outlined as the final result. \nIn the future, the Journal of Endometriosis hopes to publish upcoming guidelines from other \ninternational and national societies in order to create a forum for discussion. Through our journal, other \nmedical and surgical disciplines outside Obstetrics and Gynecology will be reached and informed on the \nongoing guidelines. \nThis event marks an excellent start with the SOGC.
