Abstract
This manuscript presents a compact dual-band monopole antenna for WLAN/WiFi. The proposed antenna is comprised of a wideband monopole antenna integrated with a wideband bandstop filter (BSF). Within the proposed frequency band of operation, the proposed antenna exhibits good selectivity and low reflection loss. The measured results show that the proposed antenna can provide two separate impedance bandwidths; 290 MHz (about 12% centered at 2.4 GHz) and 500 MHz (about 9% centered at 5.5 GHz), making it suitable for WLAN operation in the 2.26-to-2.55GHz band and 5.3-to-5.8GHz. The observed VSWR is less than 2.2 and the peak antenna gain is 1.5 dBi within the frequency range. Performance analysis of the ultrawideband monopole antenna, BSF and their integrated counterpart has been carried out methodically in this paper. A consistency has been found between simulated and experimental results. Furthermore, the size of the proposed antenna is 35 x 27 x 1.6 mm 3 , which is quite compact and suitable for the WLAN/WiFi application.
