Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and angiostatin(AGN) in eutopic and ectopic endometrium in different menses periods in endometriosis patients. Methods Expression of VEGF and AGN in eutopic and ectopic endometrium was detected in 28 endometriosis patients(EM group)and 22 controls(control group) in different menses periods by immunochemistry. Results ①The expression of VEGF in secretory endometrium was higher than in proliferative endometrium in controls and in eutopic endometrium of endometriosis patients(P0.05),but there was no different expression of VEGF in secretory endometrium and proliferative endometrium in ectopic endometrium(P0.05).The expression of VEGF in eutopic and ectopic endometri-um in EM group was significantly higher than in control group(P0.05).In proliferative endometrium of EM patients, the VEGF expression in ectopic endometrium was higher than that in eutopic endometrium(P0.05),while in secretory endometrium of EM patients, there was no significant difference between ectopic and eutopic endometrium(P0.05).②In control group, the expression of AGN showed no significant difference between secretory and proliferative endometrium(P0.05).In EM group, the expression of AGN in eutopic and ectopic secretory endometrium was higher than that in proliferative endometrium(P0.05).The expression of AGN in ectopic endometrium in EM group was higher than in control group at the same stage(P0.05).There was no significant difference in AGN expression in secretory stage between eutopic endometrium patients and controls. Conclusion The abnormal expression of VEGF and AGN in eutopic and ectopic endometrium may be related to the development of endometriosis.
