Abstract

The results of high tech laparoscopic operations were analysed in 236 patients, with 116 patients under 60 years old, and 120 patients above 60 years old. In both age groups of patients with similar characteristics of surgical aggression, there was no significant difference of intra- and postoperative complications. In elderly patients, there might be even a slight tendency for less complications. Laparoscopic technique of complex surgical intervention in combination with early patient's rehabilitation is a very important element in management of the postoperative period in elderly patients, it allows the effectiveness and safety of modern surgery in this patient population.
