The study investigated whether motor imagery (MI) training (MIT) can improve the subjective experience, chronometric indices, and the EEG correlates of MI in the general population, and whether the eventual improvement is influenced by absorption,imagery abilities and interoceptive sensibility. Participants with high, medium, and low hypnotizability scores (according to the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale: Form A) participated in a session before training (S1) and another session after 15-day motor imagery training (S2). Each session included baseline conditions (B), actual sequential movements (M), visual (V) and kinesthetic imagery (K) of the same movements. Alpha and beta power spectral densities (PSD) decreased in S2 compared to S1 in all participants in task and baseline conditions, indicating brain plasticity. The subjective experience and alpha PSD changed between conditions and sessions independently of hypnotizability which, in contrast, influenced low-beta PSD. Its influence on high-beta was masked by interoceptive sensibility. Absorption and interoceptive sensibility accounted for training-induced PSD changes, imagery abilities and absorption sustained the increase in the subjective efficacy of imagery, whereas chronometric indices did not differ between S1 and S2.[In](http://rate.in) conclusion, MIT induces brain plasticity and can be effective in the general population, being useful to neurorehabilitation treatments.
