Clinical effects of Mifepristone on patients with endometriosis after operation

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effects and side effects of Mifepristone on severe endometriosis compare.Methods 90 patiends suffered from postoperative-endometriosis were selected and divided randomly into two groups.The Mifepristone group(45 patients)was administered tablets of Mifepristone 10 mg once a day,whereas the Nemestran group(45 patients)was administered tablets of Nemestran 2.5 mg once,twice a week,for 6 months and followed up for changes of symptoms and signs,side effects in both groups.Results During treatment symptoms and signs were remarkbly relieved in both groups.Side effects including hot flushes,irregular vaginal bleeding,weigth gain and acne,were less commonly seen in group Mifepristone as compared with group Nemestran.Abnormal rate of ALT of the Mifepristone group was separately,the Nemestran group was 40% respectively.The differences in the groups had obvious statistic significance.The time of renew of menstruation and raise of basal body temperature of Mifepristone group was shorter than Nemestran group.Conclusion Mifepristone is equally effective to patients when combined with conservative surgery in the management of endometriosis with fewer side effects.
