This paper is going to discuss if it is possible to utilize other methods in teaching-learning processes for overcoming the mentioned difficulties, and if so, is going to focus on the following methods: Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Simulation-Based Medical Education (SBME), Flipped Classroom, Team-Based Learning (TBL), E-Learning, and Virtual Reality (VR). It has been proven that such strategies have positive effects on critical thinking, problem solving, cooperation, and long-term knowledge, in medical students. Nonetheless, the implementation of these innovative approaches in the Nigerian medical schools is hampered by poor funding, poor infrastructural facilities, and poor attitude to change. These include changes to medical curricula that would include the found evidence and research and technology integration part of the solution, along with professional development for both instructors and learners. Attractively, these innovative approaches by Nigerian medical schools will prepare learners for practice within a branched and diverse health care system hence enhancing patient delivery and combating Nigeria’s peculiar health risk.
