Abstract

Objective:To study the role of iron in infertile paticnt with endometriosis and the relationship between iron and endometriosis,by detecting the iron concentration in serum and peritoneal fluid. Methods: serum and peritoneal fluid of 48 patients with endometriosis and 15 controls were collected, the iron concentration were detected by spectrophotometer. Results:The iron concentration in serum and peritoneal fluid in Ⅲ~Ⅳ endometriosis were significantly higher than in Ⅰ~Ⅱ and controls, and there was a positive correlation between them. There were no different in fertile and infertile in endometriosis. Conclusion:It is suggested from the study that the degree of endometriosis was positive correlation with iron concentration in serum and peritoneal fluid,so we can classify endometriosis coarsely by determining the iron concentration in serum in order to select the method of treatment easily .The raise of iron concentration in peritoneal fluid was no correlation with pregnancy.
