Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Endometriosis is a pathology characterized by chronic pelvic pain, sexual pain, menstrual pain and disorders of the urological, anal and transit spheres. Nearly 2.5 million French women are affected by this pathology, with the major problem being a 7-year missed diagnosis. PURPOSE: an inventory of the knowledge and practices of early detection of endometriosis among MK. METHOD: interviews were conducted with private practitioners specialized in perineal rehabilitation in Finistère. RESULTS: A total of 8 interviews were carried out, the results showed that 5 MK carried out early screening for endometriosis during their check-ups. Early screening for endometriosis was performed by the physiotherapists with the most knowledge about the disease, acquired through continuing education. CONCLUSION: The physical therapist can be a first-line actor to suspect endometriosis, to redirect and to fight against the erroneous diagnosis. Raising awareness and informing future MK during their initial training is a solution for extending early detection to all MK.
