Abstract

Objective To evaluate the expression and significance of serum placental protein 14(PP14) and CA-125 in patients with endometriosis(EM).Methods Fifty EM patients were assgined mild type in secretory phase(10 cases),severe type in secretory phase(10 cases),mild type in proliferative phase(10 cases),and severe type in proliferative phase(20 cases).Thirty healthy women(15 cases in proliferative phase and 15 cases in secretory phase) were taken as the controls.ELISA was used for the determination of serum PP14,and serum CA-125 was detected by chemiluminescence. The expressions were compared among different EM stages and menstrual phases. Results Serum levels of PP14 and CA-125 were higher in EM patients with severe type in secretory or proliferative phase than those in mild type EM and healthy women(P0.05).Serum levels of PP14 were higher in EM patients with mild type in proliferative phase than those in healthy women(P0.05).The sensitivity in diagnosis of EM was higher with detection of PP14 than that of CA-125(93.3% vs.63.3%)(P0.05).Conclusion Serum levels of PP14 and CA-1251 are higher in EM patients with severe type in secretory or proliferative phase than those in mild type EM and healthy women. The sensitivity of diagnosing EM is higher with detection of PP14 than that of CA-125.
