Abstract

Objective: To map the extent and type of evidence describing how diagnostic imaging for endometriosis affects quality of life, mental health and everyday functioning in adolescents and young adults aged 14-25 years. Introduction: With the ever-changing development of diagnostic imaging for endometriosis, and the use of transvaginal ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging becoming standard practice, it is vital to know the extent of knowledge about translating this practice to an adolescent cohort. Pelvic pain and dysmenorrhea are symptoms that have a significant impact on the mental health outcomes and quality of life of adolescents. We aim to investigate whether an endometriosis diagnosis impacts these mental health and quality of life outcomes in an adolescent cohort? Inclusion criteria: Adolescents aged 14-25 years old, of female anatomy. Methods: This scoping review follows JBI methodology and is registered with the Open Science Framework. PubMed, CINAHL, Embase., PsycINFO, Web of Science, Google Scholar, ProQuest, OpenGrey; will be searched, screened in Covidence, and thematically analysed with results mapped descriptively. Keywords: Adolescents; endometriosis; imaging; quality of life.
