Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) on genesis and development of endometriosis. Methods Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of PAI-1 protein in 40 cases of ectopic endometrium,40 cases of eutopic endometrium and 30 cases of endometrium without endometriosis. Results PAI-1 protein maily localized in cytoplasm, and was expressed in stromal and epithelial cells of ecpotic, eutopic and normal endometrium. The level of PAI-1 protein was significantly higher in stromal cells than that in epithelial cells of ectopic endometrium(P < 0.05).Endometriotic stromal cells showed significant increasing level of PAI-1 protein, compared with stromal cells of eutopic and normal endometrium (P < 0.05).The level of PAI-1 protein in stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ was significantly higher than that in stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ and normal endometrium (P < 0.05).Conclusions The overexpression of PAI-1 protein in endometriotic stromal cells might be of importance for the migratory, adherance, invasion and growth, which maybe result in endomrtriosis in the end.Studying on the effect of PAI-1 has a certain guiding significance for clinical treatment of endometriosis.
