A retrospective study on intestinal obstruction during the extended period from 2022 to 2024 in Al-moussat hospital-Damascus

Abstract Bowel obstruction is one of the emergency cases that require prompt intervention. It remains a challenging issue to surgeons due to many possible differential diagnoses [1]. This retrospective study was intended to highlight the common causes of intestinal obstruction. A total of 172 patients who were diagnosed with intestinal obstruction and were operated in the department of surgery in Al-mouassat hospital in Damascus from February 2022 to January 2024 were taken for this study and they were compared in terms of sex, age group, diagnostic tools, presenting symptoms, and treatment. In addition, we compared our study with another two studies regarding the same topic.
