Abstract

Objective To observe the protein and the mRNA expression of gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)and its receptor(GnRH-R)in endometrium of patients with endometriosis and to investigate its significance. Methods Protein expression and localization of GnRH and GnRH-R from endometriosis eutopic and ectopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis and in normal endometrium of cortrol subjects were analyzed by immunohistochemistry.mRNA expressions were observed by reverse transcription(RT)-polymerase chain reaction(PCR)method. Results GnRH and GnRH-R were expressed at the protein and mRNA level in all eutopic and normal endometrium, and in approximately 50% of ectopic endometrium. Conclusions There exist protein and mRNA expressions of GnRH and its receptor in endometrium of patients with endometriosis, indicating that GnRH-R can be target of GnRH analogs used in clinical treatment.
