Abstract

Objective:To detect the role of matrix metalloproteinase(MMP-9)、p53 in the developement of endometriosis.Methods:Archived tissue samples of 30 ectopic, 25 eutopic, 30 normal endometrium and 20 ovarian cancer were selected and immunohistochemically analyzed for MMP-9 and p53 expression.Results:(1)The positive rate of MMP-9 in ectopic endometrium from endometriosis was 86.7%, higher than that in eutopic endometrium 44% and normal endometrium 16.7%(P0.01), and the expression of MMP-9 in eutopic endometrium was higher than that in nomal endometrium(P0.05),but there was no significant difference between ectopic endometrium and ovarian cancer(P0.05),(2)The positive rate of p53 in ectopic endometrium was 20%(6/30),higher than that in normal endometrium and eutopic endometrium from endometriosis(P0.05), the expression of p53 in ovarian cancer was 50%(10/20),higher than that in endometriosis(P0.05),(3)Through Spearman correlation test, there was no obvious correlation between MMP-9 and p53 in ectopic of endometriosis(rs=-0.294, P 0.05).Conclusions:Both of MMP-9 and p53 may be involved in the invasion of EM through their respective moclear mechanism and may play an important role in the development of endometriosis.
