Abstract
Objective To investigate the expressions of epidermal growth factor (EGF), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and C erbB 2 oncogene proteins in cervical and endometrial neoplasms. Methods 73 cases of cervical specimens(10 normal cervix,18 CIN, and 45 cervical carcinoma ) and 72 cases of endometrial tissues (7 proliferating endometrium, 10 secretory endometrium, 10 endometriosis, and 45 endometrial carcinoma ) were detected for EGF, EGFR and C erbB 2. Results EGF expression in endometrial carcinoma tissue and endometrial tissue in 145 cases were positive. EGFR expression of both tissues was different. But there was no significant difference between the groups in EGFR expression (χ 2=2.598 5,0.186 8,P0.05). C erbB 2 expression of carcinoma tissue was significantly higher than that of non carcinoma tissue (χ 2=16.538 9,14.711 4,P 0.01 ). Conclusion EGF expression in cervical tissue has no specificity. The positive expression of C erbB 2 contributes to the diagnosis of carcinoma tissue. [
