Abstract
Objective To discuss the clinical value of serum CA_(125) in the treatment of symptomatic adenomyosis by interventional therapy.Materials and Methods 28 patients with adenomyosis were underwent with TUAE.Of 28 patients,12 were belonged to diffuse type, while 16 were belonged to focal adenomyosis type.Hysteromyoma were accompanied in 3 cases.Bilateral uterine aterial embolization with Lipiodol-pingyang mycin emulsion and Gelfoam strip was carried out in all patients.Serum CA_(125) was measured after and before the operation. Results The mean duration of follow-up was 22.2 months.Improvement of symptoms was obtained in 100.0% patients. After the operation serum CA_(125) decreased from(110.3±86.4) kU/L to(29.6±(19.9) kU/L)(P0.01),the positive rate before the operation was 78.6%.There were positive correlations between the decrease in the concentration of serum CA_(125) and the volume of uterus, and the increase in blood hematoglobin as well(the correlation coefficient is r=0.5645,t=3.4872,P0.01 and r=0.5895,t=3.7212,P0.001 respectively. The concentration of serum CA_(125) was apparently greater in diffuse adenomyosis than that in focal adenomyosis(t=4.9716,P0.001).Conclusion Serum CA_(125) is the important index in diagnosis and appraising effect of TUAE in the treatment of symptomatic adenomyosis.
