Abstract

opening was not different between pups delivered after embryo transfer of in vivo control, ICSI or ICSI-AOA embryos. Conclusions: Sperm cells from the wobbler mouse have a reduced fertilizing capacity and PLCzeta abnormalities. Artificially activating the oocytes restored fertilization and blastocyst could be obtained. After transfer of ICSI-AOA embryos healthy pups could be obtained, a strategy which could be used for breeding the wobbler. These findings emphasize the role of PLCzeta during fertilization and suggest that the wobbler could be used as a model for human globozoospermia and to optimize the AOA method.
